Linux-Distribution KANOTIX lebt: Version 2010 veröffentlicht

Jörg “Kano” Schirottke hat die sofortige Verfügbarkeit der Linux-Distribution für Desktops KANOTIX 2010 “Excalibur” angekündigt. Das Betriebssystem basiert auf Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 und wird als Live-DVD ausgeliefert. Laut eigener Aussage sind alle Sicherheits-Updates und viele Extras enthalten. Im Detail befinden sich Linux-Kernel 2.6.32-chk (BFS powered), KDE 3.5.10 oder 4.3.2, OpenOffice.org 3.2.1, GRUB 2, Pidgin 2.7.1, NTFS-3G 2010.5.22, Wine 1.2-rc2, Iceweasel 3.0.6 und Icedove 2.0.0.24 an Bord. Hauseigene Scripte sollen die Installation von NVIDIA– und ATI-Treibern, sowie des Flash-Plugin zum Kinderspiel machen.
Viele Jahre lang galt KANOTIX als eine der Linux-Distributionen, die am besten mit aktueller Hardware zurecht kommen. Nun hat man lange Zeit nichts von KANOTIX gehört und es schien fast, als sei das Projekt gestorben. Im Jahre 2009 meldeten sich die Entwickler, dass fleißig weiter gebastelt wird und stellten eine Vorschau von Excalibur ins Netz. Die vielen KANOTIX-Fans freuen sich bestimmt, dass die Anfänger-freundliche Linux-Distribution noch unter den Lebenden weilt.
