AMD Catalyst 11.11 mit Unterstützung für X.Org Server 1.11

Die neueste Ausgabe des proprietären AMD/ATI-Linux-Treiber für Radeon und FirePro bringt einige neue Funktionen mit sich. Es gibt Unterstützung für X.Org Server 1.11. Somit sollte der Treiber im kürzlich veröffentlichten Fedora 16 “Verne” funktionieren. AMD hatte es wohl mit der Unterstützung nicht so eilig, da Ubuntu 11.10 “Oneiric Ocelot” X.Org Server 1.10 einsetzt. Andere neue Distributionen werden ebenfalls auf X.Org Server 1.11 setzen und somit dürften sich AMD-Anwender über dieses Update freuen. Das gilt auch für openSUSE 12.1, das noch am heutigen Mittwoch debütieren soll.
Was ebenfalls nennenswert ist: Es gibt endlich eine OpenCL-Runtime-Integration. Die 32- und 64-Bit-AMD-Linux-OpenCL-Binärdateien für das SDK sind im Catalyst-Treiber enthalten. Somit muss man das AMD Stream SDK für die Open Computing Language nicht mehr separat installieren.
Wie üblich gibt es diverse Bugfixes und Script-Updates. Catalyst 11.11 ist Teil des fglrx-8.91-Ausgabe-Stream. Sie finden die neueste Version des Treibers für Linux x86 und x86_64 bei amd.com.
