Gerücht: Apple will wieder AMD-Radeon-Grafikkarten einsetzen

Gerüchte besagen, dass Apple dem Chiphersteller NVIDIA den Rücken kehren will. Stattdessen sollen wieder AMD-ATI-Chips in den nächsten iMacs und Mac Pros verbaut werden. Die AMD ATI Radeon HD 5770 bringt ein GByte GDDR5-Speicher mit sich und ist für den Mac Pro gedacht. Wer mehr Power möchte, kann ein Upgrade auf eine HD 5870 erwerben. Die HD 5750 soll im 27″-iMac verwendung finden. Die HD 5650 soll im 22″- und 27″-iMac verbaut werden. Für die 22″-Ausgabe gibt es als Alternative die HD 4670.
Die Beziehung zwischen Apple und NVIDIA bröckelte, seit der Grafikkarten-Hersteller im Bumpgate-Debakel kaputte Chips auslieferte. Apple verlor dadurch eine gute Stange Geld und verpflichtete sich, für kaputte NVIDIA-Chips bis zu drei Jahren gerade zu stehen.
