US-Gericht: LimeWire verleitet zum Raubkopieren und ist somit illegal

Ein US-Gericht hat die Firma hinter der P2P-Software LimeWire (File Sharing) als verantwortlich befunden, zum Raubkopieren verleitet zu haben. Die Software wird Software mitunter zum legalen Datenaustausch verwendet. Allerdings hat der Richter eine Studie zugelassen, die belegen soll, dass 98 Prozent der Daten illegal getauscht wurden. Mit diesem Urteil könnte das Ende der derzeit bekanntesten P2P-Software eingeleitet worden sein.
Das Urteil lehnt sich stark an den Richterspruch im Jahre 2005 gegen Grokster an – indirekte Urheberrechts-Verletzung: Man stelle zwar keine Material zur Verfügung, verleite aber andere zum illegalen Datentausch. Die Klage wurde im Jahre 2006 von 13 Plattenfirmen, die Sony oder Warner gehören, eingeleitet.
