Hm, wem sagt der Name Kororaa im Zusammenhang mit einer Linux-Distribution noch etwas? Ist doch schon eine Weile her, dass man von diesem Betriebssystem etwas gehört hat. Damals war es in aller Munde, da es die erste Live-Distribution war, die Xgl-Technologie und 3D-Fenster-Manipulation per Standard unterstützte. Nach einer deutlichen Auszeit meldet sich die Distribution als Fedora-basierte (14 Laughlin) Live-DVD für Linux-Anfänger zurück. Ebenso erwähnenswert ist, dass es Kororaa 14 nur für 64-Bit-Architekturen gibt.
Nun ist die erste Beta-Ausgabe verfügbar. Die finale Version wird den Codenamen “Nemo” tragen. Wie die damalige Kororaa-Version setzen die Entwickler auf KDE als Desktop-Manager. Kororaa wurde von Rahul Sundarams Omega GNOME Remix inspiriert. Die Macher haben sich zum Ziel gesetzt, dass die Distribution alles beinhaltet, was man so täglich im Computer-Umgang gebrauchen kann. Dies alles ist in der offiziellen Ankündigung nachzulesen. Ein Kopie des Betriebssystems können Sie von Sourceforge.net oder via BitTorrent herunterladen. Das ISO-Abbild ist zirka 1,5 GByte groß. Wer Kororaa testet, möchte bitte Feedback an die Entwickler senden.
