Anwälte Freier Software gewinnen vor Gericht wegen Verletzung der GPL

Die Verteidiger des Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) haben eine Gerichtsverhandlung in den USA wegen Verletzung der GPL gewonnen. Die Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) ist mit der SFLC verbandelt und aus FOSS-Projekten entstanden (Free and Open Source Software). Die Gruppe hat Best Buy, Samsung, JVC und eine ganze Reihe anderer Firmen wegen Verletzung der GPL verklagt. Die Firmen haben Busybox-Werkzeuge in HDTV-Systemen (High Definition Television) benutzt.
Ein Gericht in New York hat der SFC wegen Copyright-Verletzung Recht gegeben und eine Strafe von 90.000 US-Dollar verhängt. Die Anwälte bekommen 47.685 US-Dollar extra.
