Die Entwickler der Benutzer-freundlichen BSD-Variante PC-BSD haben einen dritten und voraussichtlich letzten Veröffentlichungs-Kandidaten zur Verfügung gestellt. Die finale Version des Desktop-Betriebssystems soll in zirka zwei bis drei Wochen erscheinen. Die Entwickler haben laut eigener Aussage einige Fehler bereinigt, die man in der Vorgängerversion gefunden hat. PC-BSD 8.2 RC3 basiert auf FreeBSD 8.2-RC3 und bringt unter anderem KDE 4.5.5, X.org 7.5 und NVIDIA-Treiber 260.19.29 mit sich.
Weil es auf einigen Rechnern zu schwarzen Bildschirmen führte, wurden die 3D-Effekte für KDE 4 per Standard deaktiviert.
