Anwender von Ubuntu 9.04 bekommen ungefähr noch einen Monat Updates für das Linux-Betriebssystem. Vor fast 18 Monaten, am 23. April 2009 debütierte die Ubuntu-Ausgabe. Da es sich bei 9.04 um keine LTS-Version (Long Term Support) handelt, gibt es insgesamt 18 Monate offizielle Unterstützung. Dies gilt sowohl für die Desktop- als auch die Server-Version.
Wer auf die nächste Version, Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, upgraden möchte, findet in diesem Hilfe-Artikel von Ubuntu Tipps. Ein direktes Upgrade auf 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx, ist nicht möglich. Der Zwischenschritt über 9.10 ist erforderlich.
