Mac OS X 10.6.8 bringt TRIM-Unterstützung für SSDs

Eine wirklich interessante Funktion ist im Update 10.6.8 für Mac OS X fast unter gegangen. Die Aktualisierung bringt unter anderem TRIM-Unterstützung für SSDs mit sich. TRIM ist so etwas wie der Hausmeister für Solid State Disks. Es ist für die Garbage Collection, Säubern unbenutzter Block und deren Vorbereitung zur Wiederbeschreibung zuständig. Somit wird ein ständiges Langsamerwerden verhindert.
Für Mac OS X 10.7 Lion gibt es TRIM-Unterstützung schon seit den ersten Entwickler-Schnappschüssen. Mit 10.6.8 kommen nun Anwender von Snow Leopard auch in diesen Genuss.
