GNOME 3.0 soll in wenigen Tagen, am 6. April 2011 erscheinen. In der GNOME Shell wird aber noch kräftig entwickelt. Ab sofort gibt es die GNOME Shell 2.91.92 mit einigen nennenswerten Verbesserungen. Es gibt einen neuer Netzwerk-Anzeiger für den NetworkManager 0.9 mit einer Rückfall-Lösung für das ältere nm-applet (für Leute, die nicht den neuesten NetworkManager am Laufen haben). Verbesserungen gibt es in Sachen mehrere Bildschirme, wobei die Vorteile der Multi-Monitor-Funktionen in Mutter zu Rate gezogen werden.
Weiterhin soll die Suche schneller sein und es gibt ein Performance-Testing-Framework. Verbesserungen sind auch im Message Tray eingepflegt. GNOME Shell 2.91.92 bringt außerdem sichtbare Tweak mit sich und merzt diverse Fehler aus. Sie finden weitere Details in der offiziellen Ankündigung.
