Josh Paetzel hat einen ersten Release-Kandidaten des auf FreeBSD basierten FreeNAS 8.0 angekündigt. Bei dieser Distribution handelt es sich um eine freie “Network Attached Storage”-Lösung. Zu den Neuerungen von 8.x gehören Unterstützung für ZFS und eine neue Web-Administrations-Oberfläche. Ich hab die Neuerungen schon in “Network Attached Storage: FreeNAS 8.0 Beta ist testbereit” ausführlicher beschrieben.
Die Änderungen gegenüber der Beta-Ausgabe sind nicht so spannend. Mit dem Volume Wizard können Sie ZFS-Volumes inklusive Cache, Log oder Ersatzgerät anlegen. Sie finden weitere Informationen in der Ankündigung oder den Release-Notizen. Sie können FreeNAS für die Architekturen i386 (97,5 MByte) und amd64 (101 MByte) herunterladen.
