Valve hat offenbar die Entwickler von Nuclear Dawn kontaktiert und will diesen bei einem Linux-Port unter die Arme greifen. Somit arbeite man derzeit an einer Lösung und möchte eine Engine zur Verfügung stellen, die Linux-Code beinhaltet. Weiterhin versicherte man den Entwicklern, dass Linux eine wichtige Plattform für Valve ist und man so viele Spiele wie möglich auf der Plattform (Steam) sehen möchte.
Bei Nuclear Dawn handelt es sich um eine Mischung aus First Person Shooter und Echtzeitstrategie. Das Empire und das Consortium haben dabei zwei komplett eigene Technologie- und Entwicklungs-Zweige. Jede Partei kann auf vier verschiedene Klassen zurückgreifen.
Das Spiel basiert auf der Source Engine, die auch für L4D2 verwendet wird.
