Josh Paetzel hat einen dritten und letzten Release-Kandidaten von FreeNAS 8.0.1 veröffentlicht. Das auf FreeBSD basierende kostenlos NAS (Network Attached Storage) darf nun ausgiebig getestet werden. Die Abbild-Größe wurde von einem auf zwei GByte erhöht. Mit steigenden Funktionen müsse man die Installationsgröße anpassen. Die Übersetzungen haben in diesem Fall das Fass zum Überlaufen gebracht. Das derzeitige Abbild lässt sich gerade noch so in einem GByte unterbringen. Mit der Änderung benötigt das System logischerweise mindestens zwei GByte Installations-Fläche.
Ein Upgrade mittels CD ist laut Aussage der Entwickler möglich. Ansonsten sollten Anwender die Konfiguration sichern, neu installieren und danche das backup wieder einspielen.
