Patrick Volkerding hat angekündigt, dass Slackware “Current”, der Entwicklungs-Zweig der Linux-Distribution, zum Release-Kandidaten 1 geadelt wurde. Daraus soll in nicht all zu ferner Zukunft Slackware 13.37 entstehen. Nach einigen Tests entschied man sich den kürzlich veröffentlichen Linux-Kernel 2.6.37.3 zu verwenden. Laut Meinung der Entwickler eignet sich dieser am besten für X-Umgebungen. Jeder Slackware-Fan möchste bitte ausgiebig testen, damit man eine stabile Version bald verkünden könne.
Ebenso enthalten in diesem Release-Kandidaten sind glibc 2.13, GCC 4.5.2, X.Org Server 1.9.4, KDE 4.5.5 und Xfce 4.6.2. Sie finden weitere Details im offiziellen Changelog.
