Josh Paetzel hat einen zweiten Release-Kandidaten des auf FreeBSD basierenden NAS-Systems (Network Attached Storage) FreeNAS 8.0 angekündigt. In RC1 wurde eine Upgrade-Möglichkeit mittels GUI vorgestellt. Von dieser können Tester nun profitieren. Ebenso entdecken die ISO-Abbilder die Vorgänger-Version und bieten eine Upgrade-Möglichkeit an. Firmware-Upgrades über die GUI sind hingegen nicht unterstützt. Wegen eines Fehlers im Zusammenhant mit FreeBSD, lighthttpd und Python funktioniert dies derzeit nicht stabil genug. Es gibt einen Workaround, der allerdings in RC2 noch nicht eingepflegt ist. Die Entwickler sprechen von befehlen auf der Kommandozeile.
