Das Chrome-Team hat eine neue Beta-Ausgabe des Internet-Browsers Chrome zur Verfügung gestellt. Version 10.0.648.82 Beta ist für Linux, Mac OS X und Windows verfügbar. Durch eine neue V8-Version, Codename Crankshaft, soll die JavaScript-Performance deutlich gestiegen sein. Im Chrome-Blog sprechen die Entwickler von einer Steigerung bis zu 66 Prozent. Ebenso ist eine anfängliche Implementierung von GPU-beschleunigten Videos enthalten, was die CPU um bis zu 80 Prozent entlasten soll.
Die Einstellungsseiten öffnen sich nun in einem Tab anstatt eines Dialog-Kastens. Verbesserte Sicherheits-Funktionen benachrichtigen den Anwender über Schadcode und deaktivieren veraltete Plugins automatisch. Password Sync als Teil von Chrome Sync ist nun per Standard aktiviert. Ebenso als neue Funktionen wurden WebApps im Hintergrund und eine webNavigation Extension API angekündigt.
