Stefan Lippers-Hollmann hat die sofortige Verfügbarkeit von aptosid 2011-01 angekündigt. Es handelt sich bei dieser Linux-Distribution um ein auf dem Debian-unstable basierendes Betriebssystem. Genau genommen spiegelt aptosid 2011-01 Debian sid von 05.02.2011 wider. Eine der wichtigsten Änderungen ist Linux-Kernel 2.6.37, der seinen weg in das Archiv gefunden hat. Somit bringt die Linux-Distribution nicht nur bessere Hardware-Unterstützung, sondern auf mehr Geschwindigkeit in Sachen ext4. Ebenso bringt der neue Kernel USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) für USB-3.0-Geräte mit sich. Darüber hinaus gibt es Unterstützung für Intels neue Sandy Bridge Grafikkarten.
