Chen Ping-Hsun hat die Verfügbarkeit einer weiteren Entwickler-Version der minimalistischen Linux.Distribution xPUD 0.9.5 angekündigt. Die Oberfläche ist mit Absicht sehr schlicht gehalten. Ziel des Linux-Live-Systems ist der Einsatz auf Netbooks, in Kiosks und Internet-Cafes. Die offizielle Ankündigung weist ausdrücklich darauf hin, dass sich diese Version nicht für den täglichen Gebrauch eignet und nur für Entwickler gedacht ist. Das Betriebssystem sei noch “sehr sehr buggy”.
xPUD 0.9.5 setzt als Ubuntu 10.10 “Maverick Meerkat” und Linux-Kernel 2.6.37.7 ein. Ebenso mit an Bord ist Google Chromium. Mit dieser Version startet der Entwicklungs-Prozess für TableWare – ein Fenster-Manager in HTML/CSS und JavaScript geschrieben. Testfreudige können das zirka 65 MByte große ISO-Abbild aus dem Download-Bereich der Projektseite herunterladen.
