Das KDE-Team hat bekannt gegeben, dass es ein Update für KDE 4.9.x gibt. Es handelt sich hierbei um die erste monatliche Wartungs-Ausgabe für die 4.9-Serie. KDE 4.9.1 enthält laut eigener Aussage viele Bugfixes und Übersetzungs-Updates. Die neueste Version wird allen empfohlen, die KDE 4.9.0 oder früher am laufen haben. Neue Funktionen gibt es nicht, somit sollte das Update für die meisten Anwender reibungslos ablaufen. Derzeit ist KDE in 55 verschiedene Sprachen übersetzt, die in Zukunft noch Gesellschaft bekommen sollen.
Wichtige Bugfixes gibt es für die Kontact Suite und Dolphin. Außerdem soll sich die Geschwindigkeit verbessert haben. Interessierte finden ein Changelog in Bugzilla oder den Subversion- und Git-Logs.
