In seiner Ankündigung gratuliert Warren Woodford dem Debian-Team zunächst für die Veröffentlichung von 6.0 “Squeeze”. SimplyMEPIS 11.0 Beta 2 basiert zum Großteil auf Debian Squeeze, bringt aber Linux-Kernel 2.6.32.2, KDE 4.5.1 und Firefox 4.0 Beta 10 mit sich. Nach der ersten Beta-Version von SimlyMEPIS 11.0 ergaben sich Probleme mit dem Starten des Betriebssystems in einen grafischen Anmeldebildschirm. Dank der Tester glaubt man, den Fehler gefunden und ausgebessert zu haben.
Die Installations-Routine wurde von Chris Cole verbessert. Er hat ein github-Projekt ins Leben gerufen, damit der Installer von der Community gewartet werden kann. Das für die Dokumentation verantwortliche Team hat aus den selben Gründen ebenfalls ein github-Projekt erschaffen. Interessierte können sich ISO-Abbilder aus dem Download-Bereich der Projektseite herunterladen. Es gibt ISO-Abbilder für 32- (939 MByte) und 64-Bit (943 MByte) mit Intel kompatiblen Architekturen.
